Warranty Policy
Warranty Policy
Most products sold on Empath Technology Store are covered by a manufacturer's warranty, supplied and supported through our distributor, Syntech. This page explains how warranty coverage works and how to log a claim.
1. Warranty periods
Warranty length varies by product and brand — typically 6 months to 5 years, and is stated on the individual product page where available. The warranty period begins on the date the product is delivered to you. Please keep your order confirmation or invoice as proof of purchase; you'll need it for any claim.
2. What's covered
Your warranty covers manufacturing defects and faults arising from normal use — the product failing to work as intended through no fault of your own.
3. What's not covered
- Physical damage (drops, cracks, liquid damage, power surges)
- Damage caused by misuse, unauthorised modification, or improper installation
- Normal wear and tear (e.g. battery capacity loss over time)
- Products repaired or serviced by anyone other than an authorised technician
- Data loss — data recovery is not part of the warranty process. Please back up your data before submitting any device for repair. A paid data recovery service may be available on request.
- Consumables and accessories included with a product (cables, bundled peripherals) unless separately warranted
4. How to log a warranty claim
- Email info@empathtechnologysolutions.com with your order number, a full description of the fault, and photos or video if possible.
- We'll log a Return Material Authorisation (RMA) with our distributor on your behalf and confirm next steps — each RMA covers one item.
- Pack the item with all original accessories, cables, power supplies, and packaging. Missing accessories can delay or affect the outcome of your claim.
- We'll arrange collection or provide return instructions.
- Once received, the item undergoes a technical assessment to confirm the fault before repair, replacement, or refund is actioned.
5. Turnaround times
Repair and assessment times depend on the manufacturer or distributor's technical department and are estimates, not guarantees. We'll keep you updated on progress. Complex faults or brands with overseas repair centres may take longer.
6. Your statutory rights
Regardless of any manufacturer warranty terms, South African law gives you additional protection: under Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, goods carry an implied 6-month warranty of quality from the retailer (us), separate from and in addition to any manufacturer warranty. See our Returns & Refunds Policy for how this applies.
